WOW how weird does it feel to write 2020. By the way, happy new year! Hope you had a great one.

My annual January wardrobe audit is in full swing 🙂 I think Marie Kondo is buried under there somewhere.
Here’s what I wore in January 2020. You can see my outfits on ThreadNZ Instagram and follow at www.instagram.com/threadnz to see what’s new.
OUTFIT POST: What I’ve Been Wearing In January 2020

At Ascension Winery with Alex Moulden, in Matakana, to ring in the new year at the fabulous HIGHLIFE New Year’s party, which was just incredible. I’m wearing a silk kimono by Silk Islands from TVSN.co.nz

Wearing one-shoulder taupe jumpsuit by Roisin Linnane on my new outdoor deck furniture, bring on the summer deck drinks, I say! Roisin Linnane (On Instagram at @roisinlinnane) is a beautiful label from Kildare in Ireland, which specialises in effortless modern chic pieces you will treasure for years and can wear anywhere. It is now available here in New Zealand at Foss and Kruger (on Instagram at @fossandkruger) so check it out in Remuera, Auckland.

I’m intermittent fasting, the family ate here and loved the macarons and pain au raisin. I’m wearing a dress I sewed, in old Zambesi silk fabric.

Visited a building full of memories…starting out a year to create new ones. At Auckland Museum, wearing top kindly gifted by Jasmine Alexa from The Market, which is on Instagram at @themarket.nz. My skirt is an old STORM one, and ZARA sandals.

Shade Swim Australia sun-safe melanoma protection swimsuits save your skin, are SPF50 and are constructed from sustainable fabric. As a melanoma survivor myself, I was excited to hear about Queensland’s Alyshia Morris, clearly a very clever woman who has identified a niche for stylish and sun-safe one-pieces so we can look great while protecting our skin rather than wearing a giant drab tent. How cute is this leopard print long-sleeved one-piece? I love that it has a supportive lined top and comfortable fabric, too. Her current season ‘Endless Summer’ collection by Shade Swim is now shipping to New Zealand and ranges from sizes 8-18 and are designed and made in Australia from sustainable fabric.

I’ve just realised that thanks to the movie, whenever I say we’re having Ratatouille the kids think we’re eating rat. Wearing a boiler suit in white by Boohoo, albeit not the most practical boiler suit shade, but you know, fashun. Bag by Mimco, watch and earrings by Olivia Burton. All kindly #gifted

It’s like an indoor garden here! At Sylvia Park for the New Zealand premiere of the new BAD BOYS FOR LIFE movie starting Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. I’m wearing a summery pastel silk playsuit by Australian designer Alice Mc Call. Photo by the Instagram Husband on movie date night. We must come back here to actually eat; I literally had popcorn and a berry icecream for dinner at the movie.

Sequin two piece by Femme Luxe, great for when you don’t want to wear an evening dress.

A little distraction from my packing, to post this party dress by @femmeluxefinery. Packing to fly with kids is hard enough and packing to go camping requires SO MUCH STUFF and I’m currently packing to fly with kids to go camping in Nelson. Obv, won’t be nearly this glam on holiday in tents. If a dress is short, I quite like a long sleeve. What do you think of the colour?

Snake print dress by Femme Luxe.

Back in the 09, quick shower, then into town for the Boohoo party as they’re dressing New Zealand The Bachelorette.

I love showcasing second hand fashion, but, to state the obvious, the reason that Influencers don’t do it is there’s literally no money in it. You can’t sell more than the one you’re wearing; the brand won’t pay you to wear it in a post; there’s no commission code to track. Fast fashion is a lot more lucrative, but if something’s cheap, someone is paying the price.
Wearing secondhand New Zealand fashion; dress by Huffer from my friend Kalpana, on a beautiful farm I stayed at in Moutere, South Island.

Today I took the kids to a screening of Dolittle movie, which we all loved, and the weather is divine so I’m wearing a cotton top by Cotton On from The Market NZ and earrings by Blue bungalow from themarketnz (gifted) and a vintage skirt.

I got 99 problems but the beach ain’t one. In new season swimwear by Piha Swimwear by Moontide. (gifted)

Summer Sunday at home. Reading in the garden. Using a leaf as a bookmark. Children playing under the garden sprinkler and giggling with joy. Swimsuit by Moontide swimwear. #gifted
