I headed in for an eye test to check out how my vision had changed over the past year and in fact found it had worsened by a level, so I chose some new glasses for reading, by Alex Perry for Specsavers. They have some amazing technology called OCT in the eye exam that shows an image of the back of the eye. I also found out something surprising – I have Dry Eye, officially known as meibomian gland dysfunction
I was prescribed a procedure to manage Dry Eye, which can be caused by computer use, ageing, and is more common in women. So I tick all the boxes. The Specsavers Optometrist recommended I hold a hot flannel over my closed eye for 45 seconds and then stroke my fingers down over the eyelid a few times, to move the ‘butter’ like fluid out of my tear ducts. You can use eyedrops, but this just treats the symptoms and doesn’t cure it.
Here are some photos of the eye exam and some frames I tried on, as well as the Alex Perry ones I chose for my new glasses.
