Do you buy online for your kids? The attraction is pretty obvious to any who’s a parent; choosing things from the comfort of your own home without needing to park, drag children through a store, and risk them seeing what you’re buying, to boot. I just tried Internet shopping as a reward for my daughter. She has been wanting a Little Live Pet for ages now and we are trying to not just buy gifts constantly, but instead teach that it’s a big deal to get things, and that many children don’t have things at all. So we set up a reward chart for a behaviour that is to be honest not going very well – eating all her dinner – and put it on the fridge. She has been learning about delayed gratification that’s for sure! The day finally came when she had ticked off all the boxes and got to order her Little Live Pet.
We looked on the Farmers website and The Warehouse website and couldn’t find it. Some might find it handy to use their Walmart CA coupons to shop for kids toys. When I was given a Mighty Ape voucher, it all fell into place – they had a Little Live Pet in stock, and some Shleich farm animals for a small present for her little brother were on sale for $2.99 so we got him that as well as a starting kindy gift. He chose a piglet and meerkats.
It was easy to order and I liked that I didn’t have to open an account, and they even had the option to pick up for free on the North Shore. Great for last-minute shopping. I shopped at 7pm and had it the next morning. Even the (actual live pet) cat came to check it out when it starting singing.
They have over 350,000 products stocked in the Auckland-based warehouse – I gather that gaming is a big part of the business – which can all be sent out same day within Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch or overnight across the rest of the country.
We are so happy and will shop again. I wonder what the next chart will be for? I think I want a chart, and reward myself with perfume!
