Refresh Your Wardrobe by Getting Rid of These 7 ‘Cold’ Items

Unfortunately, a host of fashion items that were super-hot in 2018 and 2019 have officially gone ‘cold’ ahead of 2020. It’s time to refresh your wardrobe; here is a list of the so-called ‘so last season’ pieces to get rid of (possibly for good).

Cowboy couture

Anything cowboy-related was extremely popular not too long ago. In fact, many would agree that cowboy chic was the look for 2018. However, the time for this rough and ready aesthetic has passed – except when it comes to fringe, of course. Fringe is actually a big trend for 2020, especially when it comes to accessories like handbags. The only difference is that the emphasis is less on ‘cowboy’ and more on ‘long and flowing sophistication.’ Yes, the longer the fringe, the better.

Grandma’s cardigan

Say goodbye to grandma’s cardigan and hello to tight, button-up cardigans this season. Opt for one that fits you well and boasts a shorter cut to rock the look.

Plain items

2020 is all about being loud and proud, at least when it comes to patterns and colour. Bright, vibrant hues and ‘in your face’ patterns are all the rage at the moment. Shop Froxx.co.uk for stunning tunics, dresses and other items boasting the most on-trend patterns and colours that 2020 has to offer.

Tapered jeans

Out with an old denim trend and in with a new one. This season, you should be on the hunt for vintage style jeans. You will want to embrace the boot leg cut, as well as the 70s inspired high-waisted flared cut. Pleated denim is also all the rage.

Vinyl jackets

Vinyl jackets were one of the hottest winter trends of 2018 and even spilled into 2019 for a bit. However, it is official that vinyl is out, and leather and faux leather are in. Not classic black, though! If you really want to step up as someone who is undeniably fashion-savvy, opt for a leather jacket in a more eye-catching shade, like fire engine red or ‘look at me’ yellow.

Mesh tops and dresses

Many will be thrilled to learn that these are getting the cold shoulder from 2020 onwards. Bold print maxi dresses are taking centre stage instead. Just steer clear of any fruity prints, as these have also become slightly passé over the last few months.

Large hoodie dresses

This was a summer essential in 2019 and oh-so-comfortable. Unfortunately, 2020 isn’t looking too favourably on this fad. Rather replace your oversized hoodie dress with a tie-dye maxi dress the next time you hit the stores.

Before you donate or chuck these items in the bin, remember that fashion trends tend to have a way of re-emerging after a period of a few years. Consider the fact that some of the biggest fads from the 2000s are bigger than ever this year! Perhaps find a way to store your ‘cold’ items so you can re-embrace them at a later stage when they’re flaming hot again? You might be very glad that you did.
