In this latest Styling Tips post, I show you how to wear any large scarf you own as a halter neck top.

Do you have a gorgeous scarf sitting in your closet that you wish you could wear as a shirt, it’s so pretty? Here’s an easy way to adapt a scarf, such as the blue and white one I wear above in a classic style, to wear as a scarf under a jacket, and you’d never know it’s not a top.
- Knot two corners of the scarf together to form the halter neck and put it over your head. This makes a nice cowl neck effect at the front.

2. Tie the bottom two corners of the scarf at the back of your waist, and fold the hem over to create a belt effect with the scarf’s border (see pic above).

3. Alternatively, take a belt or length of tie – I used a black grosgrain wide ribbon- and tie a belt around around your waist with the scarf hanging down in its full length (see pic above).

4. Wear the scarf halter like this over pants, or put a jacket over it and it will look like a normal top.
Have fun experimenting with different scarves, or sarongs, and double the ways you can wear things you already own, to create new garments in your wardrobe without spending an extra cent, and get more use out of things you hardly ever wear.
