In The Week On Thread Episode 124, the twenty-fourth column of 2018, I showcase some pics of highlights in photos of what I’ve been doing in mid to late-October, mostly around Auckland. It’s the highlights from my Instagram, which you can follow over at www.instagram.com/threadnz to see daily updates and what’s new.

The Week On Thread Episode 124
If you love conservation of our birds AND chocolates, you’ll love this: Bennetts of Mangawhai has chocolate speckled eggs raising money to save the very endangered Fairy Terns which nest on the sand dunes at Mangawhai. The owner of Bennetts is Patron of the Fairy Terns, helping to save them from extinction. Nice one.
Lunch has arrived courtesy of Lewis Road Creamery who have launched a yum spreadable butter sunflower oil blend. I found the Japanese butter cow in an opshop.
At Painted Bird Vintage Milford with owner Steph King, and fashion stylist Michiko Hylands.
Colour matched! With Zoe of @blessedindoubles and Riley Hemson @healthychick101, at the media launch of The Warehouse new international designer label brands, RED RACK. It’s a lot like TKMaxx in England, with designer stock at bargain prices.
Moonlighting as a graffiti artist at RED RACK Launch Party for The Warehouse.
Happy feet in Happy Socks of happy kids. Actual quote from Child 1.0 was; “Wow these are sooo comfortable!” #gifted
Is there anything nicer than wine and candles arriving!? Cheers! These two awesome New Zealand brands- Linden Leaves and Sacred Hill Wines have both been busy and released these good-looking new products both coincidentally trimmed in rose gold. Linden Leaves have the perfect gift sorted; various messages printed on limited edition fragranced soy candles made in Christchurch from environmentally friendly materials. Sacred Hill has a new look inspired by the rolling hills and rivers of its Hawke’s Bay and Marlborough vineyards.
Loving the look of these handmade new earrings at Painted Bird Vintage Milford by Australian designer LeeLi Design, made from beads and embroidery. All different, and works of art you can wear.
Spending the afternoon making Frida headbands for a Mexican restaurant. Now slightly high on electric glue gun adhesive stick. If you need Frida headbands, I’m your girl. My dress kindly gifted by @witcheryfashion; pearl earrings and necklace #gifted by @migliodesignerjewellery. Beauty note: I’m wearing my coral eyeshadow by Smashbox as a blusher too. Multitasking genius.
The courier phoned and said, “Are you home for a bottle of wine delivery? Me, instantly: “Yes.” A gorgeous wine delivery of the brand new Sauvignon Blanc 2018 from Stoneleigh in Marlborough with their fresh new look has arrived and will be delicious with dinner.
For lovers of red… the latest New Zealand success story- the international award-winning Takapoto Estate Central Otago Pinot Noir 2014. This is the nicest Pinot Noir I’ve ever had. New Zealand winemaker Andy Anderson has achieved the mind-blowing feat of winning the gold medal for best Pinot Noir at the International Wine and Spirit Competition in London TWICE in a row. Congrats Andy. I’ll raise a glass to that.
Beautiful day to climb to the summit of Rangitoto with the family! How was your Labour Day? Have you walked to the top of Rangitoto in a while? It was great! Definitely worth the journey to see the view. Travel tip: you have to take all your own food and drink to the island, but the cutest historic bach sells tea and gingernuts in an original old wooden cottage for a gold coin donation. What I’m wearing today: dress by Karen Walker, felt hat Boohoo.
How pretty is the Sisters Wine rose for my platters and drinks night! Such a beautiful sunny day. How’s your long weekend going? Any plans?
Beauty media, make-up Youtube stars, and Internet Influencers at tonight’s fabulous Christmas unveiling for LUSH upstairs at Amano in Britomart. Pic above: Kate Manihera, Michiko Hylands and I at #lushxmas.

The happiness of buying shoes on sale, haha! With Michiko Hylands and Emma @seedgallerynz AKA The Transit Lane Trio; we sped (legal speeds) into town enabled by the husbands doing the school run to shop the famous annual Mi Piaci warehouse sale at 16 Eden Street Newmarket.
The most beautiful table setting, at Sofitel Auckland Harbour, with Red Seal for their 6 new tea infusions which have been food-matched by the Sofitel chefs to the botanical teas, many of which not only taste great, they are beneficial for your health, too.
Most Valuable Player in this pic goes NOT ONLY to my lovely friend Rebecca celebrating her birthday (27), BUT ALSO TO THE WAITRESS who wrestled the sun umbrella in the back to get it up using teaspoons from the kitchen and various rope ties JUST TO LOOK CUTE in our instagram background. She has a future in film set production. Anyhow, HAPPY BIRTHDAY REBECCA! May all your umbrellas stay up and your glasses be full.
With the gorgeous Erin Simpson at Porter Novelli blogger meet and greet drinks tonight 🙂 So nice to catch up and meet new faces in the local blogosphere! Lovely to see you @erinsimpson13– we seem to have dine the same hairstyle! Glad you managed to hit the @mi_piaci sale too.
With Michiko Hylands, at the prettiest floral catwalk for a heart warming cause: @amberwhitecliffe charity fashion show for Hearts 4 Kids, supporting a team of Kiwi medics doing heart surgery for children in Fiji.
I was kindly invited to the media opening of Chelsea Sugar Works new development Chelsea Bay. There’s a gorgeous cafe with harbour views through glass walls, factory tours you can pay to go on, and even a Baking School. I remember coming on 2 or 3 school tours here back in the day, and my daughter is doing a school tour here next month, very cool, Chelsea Sugar Works.
My cat got a courier delivery of a cat house from Vitapet. With Auckland house prices the way they are, this is probably worth 90k if I can get the water and gas turned on.
No I’m not taking the “eat your colours” slogan literally; this is the eco bag for New World designed by Project Runway New Zealand’s Judy Gao casually sitting on my lawn filled with Spring flowers from my garden. I mean I’m sure you could eat the nasturtiums, but a bird of paradise might be a bit chewy. Alright if you’re used to kale, I suppose. Buy the bags at New World and use less plastic.
Girls drinks at Jack Tar in Wynyard Quarter with Trudi Nelson of Fresh Factory, Mermaid Mary, Katie West of Bare PR, Erin Simpson, thanks to host Bacardi.
