In The Week On Thread Episode 125, the twenty-fifth column of 2018, I showcase some pics of highlights in photos of what I’ve been doing in early to mid-November, mostly around Auckland. It’s the highlights from my Instagram, which you can follow over at www.instagram.com/threadnz to see daily updates and what’s new.
The Week On Thread Episode 125
Ok so wearing black against a black backdrop (a blackdrop?) isn’t the best fashion choice; I look like Andy Serkis being a disembodied head acting in a blue screen but a good choice I made was to attend Bohemian Rhapsody which opens in New Zealand cinemas today! Wearing Alice McCall jumpsuit because she’s my favourite bohemian designer, at the premiere
At the media call of Peter Pan Goes Wrong at the Civic Theatre Auckland. It’s the follow up to the wildly successful The Play That Goes Wrong and is now on in Auckland! Where’s my celebrity for my photo op? Perhaps they played I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, and it worked too well.
Edmonds Baking School, at Chelsea Sugar Works baking school.
Peony season has arrived! I’m so happy. Cheers to new chairs and trying out this new NZ wine brand LV by Louis Vavasour.
At Smith and Caughey’s Queen Street Christmas window unveiling with Antonia Prebble.
At the #HMOSCHINO fashion media event complete with DJ and wine and burger bar, mmmmm
I’m at a fun party put on by Cointreau with a great live band celebrating Margaritas which I discovered are a cocktail invented by an American socialite called Margaret for her own parties. Off to invent a Meganita for my next party now.
A Margarita kit in a bag! Thanks to Cointreau.
Got a thank you card for donating hamper items to JustBecause.nz who are making Christmas pamper packs for women experiencing challenging times… I’m sharing the word in case you want to too. It’s on Facebook at Just Because Pamper Packs and is run by Auckland woman Karen Bryant. Nice work!
Birthday party! My rose party with girl friends last night, and knowing me of course there were crafts, throwing caution to the wind operating hot glue guns while drinking rose! We did flower headbands and soy candle making in vintage wine glasses, followed by the game quiz, Are You Smarter Than a 10 Year Old, which was surprisingly challenging, except to Juls who caned it. I did a pink theme of rose wine and guests wearing something pink, and made lots of tissue paper flowers for the walls.
Manicures at the premiere of Disney’s Nutcracker and the Four Realms! These gorgeous hands belong to the lovely Alyshia Jones, having her nails done with the brand new OPI x Disney Nutcracker Collection. So, what’s the movie like? Fantasy live action, I think best for kids 7 and over, due to some dark bits; they’d be fine if they can watch Narnia films I think. Visually beautiful, fabulous performances by the leads and great to see diversity in that women and people of colour are on the screen the whole movie. Great messages and themes, not least around the use of military power, as well as more usual themes of believing in yourself, and appearances being deceiving. I loved the costuming and world creation. The way they worked in the Nutcracker ballet into the film with the dance section was just stunning. They actually asked NZ Ballet dancers along to today’s screening, as @nzballet is performing Nutcracker soon.
Candle making, from my birthday party on Saturday night! I did an easy how-to on my blog if you’re interested in doing it yourself at home.
Krispy Kreme have arrived at my house with a box of glazed donuts to announce their Chancery store opening. The public can all get a free donut on Thurs 22nd Nov from 7.30am and the first 25 people in line get a free tshirt.
Coffee date with the husband at Chelsea Bay SUGAR Cafe at Chelsea Sugar Works – literally coffee + date because I had a date scone. I’m more of a tea person tbh. My body is made up of like 89% tea at all times.
A BOX of wine from Invivo?! Happy Thursday to me! Thank you @InvivoWines for my birthday party rose! If anyone hasn’t tried Invivo Wines, they really must, they’re so fantastic.
