The Week on Thread Episode 21

It’s finally sunny outside, which is perfect timing, for the second week of the school holidays. We’ve been getting outside a bit more, and dug a drain (I know! All the glamour!) and some long overdue gardening. Pictured above, I wear my Taylor Swift anchor print Keds from Hannahs shoes, and Karen Walker badges on a nautical beach bag and my vintage silk scarf.

Here’s The Week on Thread Episode 21 with highlights of my week in photos.

La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer foundation

My launch highlight of the week was the BDM Grange combined events for La Prairie, and Sugar Baby and fLash lash serum,  held at an incredible St Mary’s Bay house, with sweeping views of the Auckland harbour upstairs. Above: Skin Caviar Concealer foundation, at the Champagne-and-caviar beauty launch. It was all pretty hard to take!

Below: Sugar Baby skincare and candles on display on the deck upstairs. SugarBaby is a brand you may well know from their early days back in 1998 selling bath bombs, then fame in a top-selling self-tan, and now they’ve extended across a wide range of bath, home, and body products including candles, roll on perfumes, and hand creams. The packaging features a retro pin-up beach bombshell, in a gelato-store array of pretty pastels that look as good on your shelf as they smell and feel on your body. My favourite is the vanilla, and SugarBaby is available at Farmers and selected pharmacies.

Skechers-floral-boots

I bought these as a surprise gift for my daughter at the Skechers sale at Albany mall, they’re down to $39 and had Skechers twinkle toes (the light up shoes) from $29, a very good sale.

Sweet tastes of summer in a picnic basket have arrived from Long White Vodka – I love the sparkling water, vodka and lemon & lime made from Keri Keri lemons.

parrot-tulips

Feeling quite proud I grew these tulips from bulbs for the first time (really take much credit, poked them into pots, lol) loving the frilly Parrot Tulip so much.

Barbie Fashionista

Barbie Fashionista is one of Mattel’s top picks for Christmas and we also love Disney Vans Minnie Mouse and Snails wash-off nailpolish.

donkey-petting-zoo-auckland

I went to a 5 year old’s birthday party that had pony rides, a petting zoo, a bouncy castle, a fairy doing face-painting, and an acrobat! It was a full-on carnival. I feel bad that my parties consist of fairy bread on the back deck ha ha. How do these supermums keep up? Anyhow I liked this baby donkey, so adorable.

Carnival of the Animals

Yesterday we headed into Bruce Mason Centre in Takapuna to see Melbourne’s Circa theatre crew perform their acclaimed show, Carnival of the Animals. It was honestly incredible I was totally blown away by their interpretation of a carnival and how the performers became various animals using their bodies, noises, props, and a beautifully-illustrated animated backdrop. They were amazingly talented in acrobatic feats, strongman, and trapeze ropes as well as standing back flips and even hip-hop and breakdancing. Go see it! 10/10.
