The week on Thread – episode 6 with highlights of the week, including opening night of NZ Opera Don Giovanni, summer collections from Rose and Thorne lingerie, store opening parties for Deadly Ponies, and The Shelter, and an AMAZING trip with the family down to Rotorua to Polynesian Spa and Skyline Gondolas.
Bestow Beauty
Health brands don’t usually do design as well and as beautifully as this! Gorgeous natural beauty oils and detox products from Bestow Beauty of Tauranga. Love.
Rose and Thorne
The fantastic store, Rose and Thorne Fit Studio, at 29 Cross Street in Newton, Auckland, has the range of this fabulous lingerie which is also sold on their website, in The Warehouse stores nationwide and recently, at Australia’s Autograph stores in a plus-size exclusive collection. We particularly liked the new summer oriental-floral print on bras and pants. I got the men’s pants (two pairs for $39.99) for my guy.
Deadly Ponies
How cool is the new Deadly Ponies store? The interior design is by Katie Lockhart and her husband made the wood plinths with a chainsaw. Check out their beautiful bags at Mackelvie Street Ponsonby.
The Shelter
Vicki Taylor of Taylor Boutique (right, talking to Kylie Cooke) has opened the.most.incredible store called The Shelter! Not only does it have her range, it has cool international labels, and JimmyD, Goss Lingerie amongst others, AND a cafe called Blend, Tokyo Bikes store, and a homewares store! We were blown away. It’s in the old commercial laundry building on Mackelvie St Ponsonby.
Blend at The Shelter
Lemon cordial at Blend Store – a cafe and Tokyo Bikes shop inside The Shelter in Mackelvie St Ponsonby.
NZ Opera- Don Giovanni
On Thursday evening Rebecca and I got glammed up for the red carpet at Aotea Centre with Auckland Live, for opening night of Don Giovanni by NZ Opera.
Rotorua Roadtrip
At the weekend, we went on a road trip with the family to stay at Millennium Hotel Rotorua and try out the Aix therapy rooms at Polynesian Spa (in-cred-i-ble) and the newly developed Skyline Gondolas facilities for lunch.
Not only was the view great, an unexpected surprise was seeing alpacas on a bush walk, eating at the mountain top restaurant for lunch, having Jelly Belly jellybeans in their shop, and tasting wines at Volcanic Hills Winery.
Below: A glorious day in Rotorua and a great view of the lake, the Bathhouse, and Polynesian Spa from the Millennium Hotel balcony.
Below: me at Polynesian Spa.
Below: I am basically swimming in a picture postcard – at Lake Pool at Polynesian Spa in Rotorua.
