Here’s some highlights of the week in photos: Episode 9
Monday
ROOMS TO LOVE
It was a huge honour to have my home included in new local interiors book, ROOMS TO LOVE by LeeAnn Yare and Larnie Nicholson, from the original photos they came and photographed here for Your Home and Garden magazine a couple of years back. They’ve collated all the houses into categories including Live, Play, Create, Inside out, Wash, Cook, Eat, Sleep, and Inspire, with helpful verb titles to represent various functions rather than just rooms, in houses. LeeAnn Yare styles the homes and Larnie Nicholson photographs them and she is honestly the nicest photographer you will ever meet. ROOMS TO LOVE – BY LEEANN YARE AND LARNIE NICHOLSON is $65 out 24th October from Penguin. Read more here on Thread.

FACEHUNTER x OPSM
I got up bright and early for a breakfast start up at White Studios hosted by OPSM to launch their new colab with FACEHUNTER. OPSM partnered with photo blogger Yvan Rodic AKA FACEHUNTER to document the real face of Australia today. They took 1,000 photographs of Australians to determine the modern face shape: no longer just the traditional oval, round, square and heart shapes, there are actually NINE face shapes. This info can be used instore to help OPSM customers find the eyewear frame that best suits them.
AUT ROOKIE
A definite highlight of the week – an indeed my year in the fashion calendar each year – is AUT’s fashion students graduation show, ROOKIE. Read more about it and see beautiful photos by James Yang here on Thread. Below: Sidonie Jago, photos by James Yang. Intro image above of garments by Brit Day.
ROOKIE opened with a showcase of ZAMBESI Bachelor of Design (BDes Fashion Year 2) Industry Project garments.
It was held again in Shed 10 on the waterfront with models from Unique Model Management, Vanity Walk, and Red Eleven agencies, hair by D&M led by Danny Pato, makeup by students of Cut Above Academy.

MAC ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW
We headed along to MAC in Britomart on Tuesday 4th November for the most anti-ci-pated launch of all. Dammit, Janet! I love it: the brand new Rocky Horror Picture Show. The 40th anniversary of the 1975 cult classic tribute to sci-fi and horror films, set to music, was the perfect alliance for MAC cosmetics, the brand known for drama and glam. What was really cool was the completely fabulous three actors/dancers hired to host the event: Riff Raff, Frank n Furter, and Magenta. They even broke into song for the Time Warp in the store! On Wednesday in Wellington, Hyacinth Girl‘s Morgan Sassworth was on location at Semi-Permanent live-tweeting the day’s creative industries speakers for Thread.

Jessica Hische’s advice for designers applies in all aspects of work, I think! @semiglobal #spwgtn
BLAZE
Always such a joy to go into Blaze salon, have a great cuppa coffee, read magazines, and chat to Mana, Kate, Kelly, Michaela, Kirsty, Tupou and the team. Here’s my new hair. What I Wore Today: highnoontea blazer, Levi’s, vintage scarf, tee Marilyn Seyb, badge Kate Sylvester.
Thursday
WAREHOUSE STATIONERY
There were loads of great gift ideas (Frozen and Kinetic Sand especially for mine) and I loved these handcrafted paper Advent calendar bags at Warehouse Stationery’s Christmas launch up at Thievery Studios. Another eye-catching thing was the printable wallpaper, where you can have any photo made into wallpaper for a wall of your home.
Kinetic sand looks really fun.
SHOWROOM 22 MEDIA OPEN DAY
All the fashion media gathered in the white concrete lock space on Showroom22 carpark for AW15 Media Open Day for a runway show of their showroom’s labels including Camilla & Marc, Bendon, Staple + Cloth, Cathy Pope Jewellery, Taylor Boutique, moochi, Ingrid Starnes, Levi’s, adidas, Billabong, I Love Ugly, Tigerlily, Neuw, Rolla’s, Mimco, Kathryn Wilson shoes, and Le Specs.
JULIETTE HOGAN
JHo turns 10! Silo 6 was the venue for models decked out in Juliette Hogan outfits and friends of the label for the celebratory party. I was home with the kids so missed out but wish Juliette my warmest congratulations on this amazing milestone. Here’s a photo by Kylie Robertson.
LINDI KINGI x NZ MINT
New Zealand jewellery designer Lindi Kingi is often asked for a precious metals version of her designs, so she has teamed up with NZ Mint to produce LINDI KINGI DELUXE with precious metal versions of her most popular designs. The first collection is named ‘The Archetype’. www.nzmintjewellery.com

SIMPSON GRIERSON
I asked Simpson Grierson, the legal firm, for the legal point of view of blogging disclosure around sponsorship. Here’s their informative post. Sponsored Disclosure on Blogs – recommended or required?
DEAR JERVOIS
I went to Dear Jervois cafe on Jervois Road for the first time and caught up with the lovely Lee Plummer of The generalist. Delish coffee.
