It was a very early morning start for the teams at Delpozo. Antonio Corral Calero’s team of hair stylists was already in full force.

Delpozo’s designer was inspired by “the geometic post-cubist art of Duilio Bernabé and the futuristic 1960’s novel ‘Logan’s Run.” Calero created a look that was just as meta as the fashion.

“The hair is beautiful, strong and dramatic,” Calero noted. The hair not only mimicked the style of Bernabé’s asymmetric and geometric forms, the process of styling the hair had a metaphor.

Calero created the updo look by using two ponytails. The right ponytail was pulled over to the left – a sculpted metaphor of the right brain crossing over to the left brain.

While the look seems quite complex, only 3 products were used:

Moroccanoil Treatment

Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Strong

Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray

The Treatment was used to prepare and condition the hair. A deep side part on the left was made and the hair brushed to the side, while the hairspray was applied. Another part was made on a right diagonal from the crown to nape, brushed once again and sprayed to maintain a sleek look.

The aforementioned ponytails were made: one at the nape on the right and then the other made by parting the hair mid-head toward the ear on the left. The second one was pulled down and tied mid-tail to the right ponytail. The right side ponytail was pulled horizontally over the left one and tied mid-tail at the nape.

The next part is the most complex. As per Calero, “I divided this unified left-sided ponytail into two parts. I twisted and looped the first part of the pony in and around below the top left pony, to create a rounded, veritical tube-like effect, and pinned. I then twisted and looped the remaining part of the pony around the section mid-nape and pinned.”

A healthy dose of Glimmer Shine Spray was then used to finish the look.

Calero said the look might not work for every day, but a version of twisting two ponytails can be accomplished easily. The preparation is key to keeping the look sleek.
