Putting out the Welcome Matte: The Matte Lip Collection by MAC has something new, something old, and nothing shiny.
What is it?
Lipsticks are what made MAC so popular and they have an unrivalled colour range across satins, sheers, glosses, cremes, mattes and pencils. For staying power though, you just can’t go past the suede-like finish of a good matte lip. For 2015, MAC extends its range of matte lipsticks with a 22-piece collection entitled The Matte Lip, which has 12 new shades of Matte and Retro Matte Lipstick.
What’s hot?
The 22 shades will all be permanent so they are here for a long time not just a good time. A moment on your lips…and forever in your lipstick drawer.
Some shades that were previously limited edition, are now back here permanently, such as my fave deep blackened red, Studded Kiss.
If you, like most MAC fans, are lovers of Lip Pencil shades Whirl and Stone, you will be happy to hear they are included in the new Matte Lip collection as lipsticks.
Retro Matte are even flatter than the Matte shades; basically the black holes of makeup where no light can escape once it has entered. These guys are DENSE.
What’s not?
Some of the colours being re-promoted are already permanent shades so don’t get too excited about there being 22 new shades of matte goodness; as stated above, just 12 are new and 10 are re-releases. In fact one of the must-have reds, Ruby Woo, is in it; my favourite purple lippie, Heroine is included in the line-up; plus the colour I REALLY want – Velvet Teddy – is; as well as a dusky matte pink I often wear (the ‘Snob’ shade for old girls)- Please Me – as well as All Fired Up, Flat Out Fabulous, Kinda Sexy, and Pink Pigeon. Everyone will have their faves that aren’t in the matte line-up and I’m a bit sad that Lust isn’t.
