Bargain Beauty – new summer makeup from Designer Brands

In this latest Bargain Beauty column, we look at new summer makeup from Designer Brands – a cosmetics brand that’s incredibly well-priced. I hadn’t been aware of this brand until recently, and I was sent these new summer season products to try out and have a play with. I’m impressed with the look and how very cheap they are for the quality which is more of a pharmacy-level makeup than supermarket-level, if you know what I mean.

The lipgloss had good saturated, rich colour, but I found it slipped off quite easily and bled a bit around my lips. There’s a great range of colours to suit all ages and they’re very fashionable; with coral, fuschia, an orangey-red, and a deep mahogany, all at $9.99.

The CC creme has a very light coverage so I shall stick with their full cover foundation of the same brand; however if you want a colour-correcting makeup that’s even lighter than a BB cream, give this a go – for only $16.99. They’ve recently also released a CC Concealer Pen for $14.99.

My pick of the bunch was the Designer Brands Natural Ground Minerals Blush. It has pink tones with gold, and I found it incredibly easy to wear. The blush retails for $16.99 and has a grinder mechanism in a lidded tub. I used my own kabuki brush to apply it.

I shot the summer collection down at the beach to take advantage of the warmer weather and the natural light and give the shoot a nice summery feel to suit the new colours. I really like the nude and natural shades in the sand, and the corals and pinks look super cute in the daisies.
