Here are my highlights of The 2012 Brancott Estate World of WearableArt Awards Show, definitely one of the top events on the arts calendar in New Zealand not only for the entries, but the spectacle of the show itself…

Here are my highlights of The 2012 Brancott Estate World of WearableArt Awards Show, definitely one of the top events on the arts calendar in New Zealand not only for the entries, but the spectacle of the show itself. In fact I was torn often between watching the entries in the awards and the backdrop of the dancers performing during it.

The costuming of the dancers was stunning, and the audio visual displays blew me away- particularly one before the Pacific-themed section of warriors fighting shadows on a screen and turning into puffs of smoke. Simply amazing. Another highlight was the live orchestra playing on stage for the audio entries section in a sort of Steam-punk-cum-Cabaret-circus with two musicians suspended on wires seated in an armchair, and a bathtub!
