Kim Larking of Clyne Models had a life-changing moment when he was in New York on September 11, 2001. He changed careers to a new pathway in life; Vision Products and their charity Vision for Humanity, to help other people and our planet.

Kim had travelled extensively in his role at Clyne Models and seen that life is extreme; from the excesses of Parisian catwalks to poverty on the backstreets of the Third World.

He was about to open a Clyne Models in NYC when he was there that fateful day on 9/11 with briefcase in hand when the whole world changed forever. Kim also changed forever. He realised at that moment that it had cemented a new path in life. Just one month earlier while in Germany he had questioned everything in life and asked himself, "What would be meaningful? To help other people and leave this planet a better place", he decided.

Thus, Kim’s vision for a sense of global family. He wants to realise this through his charity, Vision for Humanity, which raises funds through retail sales of Vision Products – basic apparel, beautiful natural skincare, and stuning photographic greeting cards – and by affecting other businesses to change for good.

The production of Vision skincare products supports Wild Harvest – gathering wild botanicals where they grow – which is better than organically grown and leaves the enviornment and people intact. They use superfruits such as Tamanu, Acai, Camu Camu, Rosehip and Jojoba oils in the skincare, and essential oils in the shampoos.

They use eco packaging with a corn starch bottle, wood cellulose sticker, and recycled paper label, and minimum packaging on products. Their slogan is ‘biospherically correct’ and stickers on each product show a number rating of its eco impact.

Kim hopes to inspire other businesses and for it to spread and spread – and to change the world. Thread definitely came away inspired and I have become more aware of looking at products and how they’re packaged, and making better choices when purchasing.

Vision Skincare is absoultely divine, and smells amazing. All the women were raving about the orange citrus essential oil in the Refreshing Citrus Lotion. The range includes a Nourishing eye and face cream, and an antioxidant rich Youth Serum (I could do with some of that!) as well as bodycare and haircare lines and gorgeous soaps.

If you’re in town, check out the Vision store at 26 Airedale Street in central Auckland, and nationwide and worldwide buy their products at www.visionproducts.co.nz
