Beauty shortcuts

Chances are you don’t have the time to dedicate all your time to beauty. So you’ll have to figure out a few shortcuts to the kind of perfection that only Instagram stars seem to manage in real life!

Here are just a few.

Invest in a good Dry Shampoo

I like to extend the life of an expensive salon blow-dry by using a good dry shampoo hair product that works by absorbing oil (moisture is the enemy of the blowdry). An added bonus is it saves you time in the shower in the mornings. Read more of my time-saving life hacks here.

Take it on the chin

It’s no secret that your neck and back of your hands are a sure giveaway of your true age. The skin on this part of your body is generally thinner than anywhere else, leading to lines, wrinkles and sagging skin. There are, however, some creams that are a sure fit for your skin on your neck.

Invest in Multi-taskers

I have to admit I love a beauty product that can do a mulitude of tasks. Save on storage space and money by buying products that have more than one arrow in their arsenal; foundations that have a built-in primer, moisturisers that include a decent sunscreen, cleansers that have a toner, and handcreams and skin balms that can ease irritation, insect bites, and sunburn as well.

Supplement your diet

Even the best intentions to eat healthily can go awry, so here are some good nutritional supplements that may be lacking in your diet or not found in the soil the plants we eat come from. All of the following are considered natural anti-oxidants.
Vitamin E, B-Complex, DHA in Omega-3, and Calcium and Magnesium.

Grab 15 minutes to exercise

Exercising can seem like such a bother – especially when you’ve got a whole season of Orange is the New Black to watch and the fashion shop checkout cart full while you watch. But your regular workouts don’t have to be rigorous to the point of exhaustion. Start your workout regimen by performing basic exercises for a breezy 15 minutes a day. It’ll be just enough time to work up a sweat, but not quite long enough to wear you down. Do this until you’re itching to exercise for a little while longer, and then add an extra five minutes. In increments, you’ll have built up a resilience that will make longer bouts of exercise seem like a breeze.

Create heroic foods

Do you dine out on Domino’s and glug down Diet Coke? Craft a varied diet packed with superfoods (that’s foods replete with protein, vitamins and minerals) and spread them out regularly throughout your day. These foods don’t have to feel pathetically bland, either. Add a few spices or lemon juice – I love throwing roughly-cut fresh herbs and an avocado over anything – and you can have a mixture of great taste and even greater health.
