Thread attended the New Zealand launch of a skincare company new to our shores – the US skincare brand, HydroPeptide, an anti-ageing range that uses peptides, protein fragments essential for nourishment, to make your skin look younger.

The launch, held at the True Solutions head office in Mt Eden, saw beauty media meet over afternoon tea to hear from the husband and wife founders of the brand, Steve Peck and April Zangi from Seattle USA touring Australia and New Zealand introducing the brand to these markets.

Steve is the son of Dr Louise Peck, a PhD of Nutrition and Proteins who inspired the creation of HydroPeptide. April is the CEO and a scarily-fit marathon runner who threatened to make us drop and give her ten.

The sleek blue and silver packaging of the retail range. There’s also an in-salon only range available for pro use.

HydroPeptide uses peptides instead of Retinols. This is because although Retinols work, they have side effects, of irritation and redness. HydroPeptide also uses Hyaluronic Acid and low-level AHAs, so it’s a multi-faceted approach. Using peptides, women get amazing results from facials and can walk away without redness, so there’s no downtime.

HydroPeptide uses 21 peptides as they all do different functions. Peptides must be used frequently to be effective. I’m heading in for a facial to try it out this month.

They keep it simple with products named for what they are for: Cleanse ($70), Face ($150), Eye ($130), Mask ($85), and Anti-Wrinkle Polish & Plump Peel ($110). All their products are paraben-free and phthalate-free.

…Even the afternoon tea was blue!

..and the cupcakes! Pretty.
