As October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I thought it would be good to put together some great initiatives that are around to support, fundraise and raise awareness.
Here are just a few great things we can all get behind.
Estee Lauder Companies
When you buy an Estée Lauder companies pink ribbon product, 20% goes to breast cancer awareness, support, and research. Pictured above: Clinique Power with Pink lipstick, and Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair. Learn more at www.BCAcampaign.com and hashtag on social media #BCAstrength
Estee Lauder Companies Pink Star Walk
Another great initiative to get involved in at locations throughout New Zealand is the Pink Star Walk. It is $30 and the first 500 to register will get a $40 New Balance online voucher in their pack – so it’s also great value! All the money raised for the NZBCF goes towards breast cancer research and will support the seven women a day diagnosed with breast cancer in New Zealand. Skinfood Breast Cream
Because the early signs of breast cancer can be more than just a lump, the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation recommends women get to know what’s normal for them. To this end, Skinfood has created this Breast Cream – a normal moisturiser that you can apply anywhere including your breasts – and get to know your own body. Breast Cream will ONLY be available for the month of October and $2 of every sale will go directly to NZBCF. Here are the social media hashtags #OOroutine | @NZBCF | @SkinfoodNZ | www.nzbcf.org.nz
Stella McCartney lingerie and Kate Moss
Stella McCartney has designed a neon pink lingerie set as part of her Autumn/Winter 14 collection to raise funds for the Linda McCartney Centre in honour of Stella’s mother Linda who passed away due to the disease, at age 53 when her daughter was 25. The neon pink set is available from October in Bendon stores, online at bendon.co.nz and in select lingerie boutiques nationwide, and is modelled here by Kate Moss, a close friend of Stella.

Decoding Annie Parker
Here’s an important film that brings to the screen with humour this vital story. It stars Helen Hunt, Samantha Morton, Aaron Paul, Alice Eve, Maggie Grace and Rashida Jones. Decoding Annie Parker follows the incredible, irreverent and heartwarming story of how the paths of cancer survivor Annie Parker and geneticist Mary-Claire King intersect. With grace and humor the film chronicles how these remarkable women work to make one of the most important genetic discoveries of the 20th century. Decoding Annie Parker opens in New Zealand cinemas on 30th October 2014.
