Fashion media and bloggers headed into Hotel de Brett in Auckland for the launch of Miss Minit, the new shoe care range from Mister Minit to help customers look after one of their most loved possessions…
…their shoes.
Pretty AND practical
There are some really useful shoe and bag care products with cute vintage packaging in the brand new Miss Minit range. The logo has an italics Miss lending a vintage feel to its classic Minit logo of the Mister Minit brand.
It’s important to look after your shoes – but also your feet
Mister Minit’s resident podiatrist, and owner of City Feet Clinic, Kate McArthur-Jones shared with us the most common foot problems which can all be easily avoided and simply treated.
“While the high-fashion shoe options are often beautiful and on-trend, wearing them every day may lead to serious health consequences.
“Women need to educate themselves on the hazards of wearing heels so they can protect themselves from developing a painful, acute condition or a chronic physical illness that only lengthy, professional medical treatment can reverse.”
Wearing high-heels raise your heel and cause your center of gravity to be pushed forward, shifting your body weight onto the balls of your feet. In fact, 75% of your body’s weight is applied to the balls of your feet when wearing heels. Insert cushioning, such as a Miss Minit Velvet Soft Cushion ($11.50).
High-heels put feet into an unnatural position, affecting both the foot and your posture. Taking shorter strides will reduce the load on the hip flexors and reduce any lower back pain.
Too-tight shoes can cause damage to nerves, toes and toe nails, and even bunions. Mister Minit can stretch leather shoes by up to half a size. Miss Minit Velvet Cushions ($11.50) will assist pushing the toes forward and keep them from holding onto your shoes.”
Shoe stocktake
I’m actually planning a ‘shoe stocktake’ of going through all my shoes and seeing which ones have damage, and need repair, and re-heeling, and perhaps don’t fit at all and can go to charity. I’m particularly thinking about fixing up my suede shoes and boots with the suede block they gave me at the launch, as suede seems to get damaged so much more quickly than leather and is harder to clean. Just like with our wardrobes, our shoes should be in great condition, and will give years more use if well-maintained.
