Thread attended the Fashion in the Big Little City media launch and took part in the Fashion Editor’s Challenge dressing mannequins in New Zealand fashion labels against the clock…

After mingling with the designers inside the Silo 6 concrete towers in Wynyard Quarter on Tuesday 19th February, a few of the braver souls opted to get competitive and dress a dummy in fifteen minutes using the clothes on the various racks. It was a snatch n’ grab as we raced around and dressed the mannequins, judged by Alex from Foureyes.

What a fun event. And it’s not all over! The fun is just starting – there are public free events and ticketed fashion shows with goody bags ($45-$65 and goody bags are worth over $100 each.)

Britomart Fashion Sessions is taking place as part of ‘Fashion in the Big Little City’ on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 March. Over the two days there are six in-season catwalk shoes presented by Westpac with hair by Ryder Salon and makeup by M.A.C. Cosmetics showcasing Trelise Cooper, Kathryn Wilson, Juliette Hogan and the Kate Sylvester, Zambesi and WORLD combined show known as ‘Tyler Street Runway Show’.

The public can stand for free and watch, but if you buy a ticket ($45 to $65) you get invites to pre-show soirees at The Nathan Club, guaranteed seats, complimentary Britomart Valet Parking and ‘Bags of Gorgeousness’ goody bags containing Trilogy, MOR and KMS California and much more.

Me! Here’s my design that Alex Blanco very kindly judged as most original. Ms Mannequin wears WORLD sequin pants from Recycle Boutique, black collar worn backwards from TAYLOR and red elastic necklaces from TAYLOR.
