See what was worn at Barfoot &Thompson Auckland Cup Day at Ellerslie with Rachel Hunter, Colin Mathura-Jeffree, Boh Runga and more dressed to the nines. Hats on, ladies…
Auckland Cup Day historically is based around a challenging handicap race for any age horse over 3200metres. It dates back to its first running in 1874. That’s older than anyone we saw trackside today even allowing for botox and really great lighting.
In more recent times, Barfoot & Thompson have sponsored the Auckland Cup which has as its prize a silver Victorian trophy that Queen Victoria commissioned her Crown Jeweller to make in 1889 and gifted to the Club in the 1930s.
Here are some of the highlights from the day out at the races…
